Smarters Pro is often installed once and then left as it is, with one long channel list that everyone in the household scrolls through. A little organisation makes it much easier to use: separate user profiles, tidy playlists, favourites for each person and consistent setups across devices. Monster IPTV is not affiliated with the Smarters developer.
This guide focuses on organisation. For setup basics, see our IPTV Smarters Pro guide; for detailed settings, see Smarters IPTV settings.
Profiles and playlists
In Smarters apps, a "user" or "profile" is usually a saved login: a playlist or server account with its own name. You can add more than one.
| Use | How profiles help |
|---|---|
| One service, one household | A single profile, with favourites per person |
| Two services | One profile per service, clearly named |
| Old and new login | Keep the old one until the new one works, then remove it |
| Testing during a trial | A separate profile named "Trial" |
Name profiles clearly, for example "Main service" or "Trial October", so no one picks the wrong one.
Adding a profile
- Open the user list screen.
- Choose to add a new user.
- Select the login type your service uses, such as Xtream Codes or M3U.
- Enter a clear name and the details exactly as provided.
- Save and let the app load channels and the guide.
Removing old profiles
Old or expired logins clutter the user list and cause confusion. Remove them once the new login works. Before deleting, note any favourites you want to recreate.
Favourites for each family member
Favourites are usually stored per profile and per device. Practical approaches:
- One shared favourites list with the household's top channels.
- Category-based lists: news, sport, children.
- Separate devices per person, each with its own favourites.
For children, combine a children-only favourites list with the app's parental controls to hide unsuitable categories.

Hiding categories you never use
Large channel lists include categories you will never watch. Hiding them makes browsing faster and reduces the chance of children stumbling onto something unsuitable. Look for options to hide or lock categories in the settings.
Keeping several devices consistent
If you use Smarters Pro on a TV box, a phone and a tablet:
- Use the same profile names on each device.
- Recreate the main favourites list on each.
- Apply the same player and buffer settings on TV devices.
- Note settings in a short household guide.
Each device playing at the same time counts toward your service's device limit.
Catch-up and recordings
If your service supports catch-up, it appears on channels with archive icons. Recording features depend on the app version and device. Check what your version supports before relying on it.
A simple household layout
Here is one layout that works well for many families:
| Group | Contents | Who uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Favourites: Everyday | Main news and general channels | Everyone |
| Favourites: Sport | The leagues and sport channels you follow | Sport fans |
| Favourites: Kids | Children's channels only | Children, with parental lock on others |
| Hidden | Categories nobody watches | No one |
Put the most-used channels at the top of each list. On TVs, assign easy channel numbers where the app supports it so people can type a number on the remote instead of scrolling.
Updating the playlist
Services sometimes add, remove or rename channels. Refresh the channel list and the programme guide from the app's settings when this happens, or when channels stop playing. After a refresh, check that your favourites still point to the right channels; renamed channels may need to be added again.
Writing a short household guide
A one-page guide taped near the TV or shared in a family chat saves repeated questions. Include how to open the app, which profile to choose, where favourites are and what to do if a channel won't play: restart the app, then the device, then the router. Never include login details in the guide.
When to start fresh
If the app has become slow or confusing after years of changes, it can be quicker to clear its data or reinstall it and rebuild a clean setup. Make a note of your login details and favourite channels first.
Keeping logins safe
- Store login details in a password manager.
- Don't share screenshots that show server addresses or passwords.
- Remove profiles from devices you sell or give away.
Common mistakes
- Keeping expired profiles in the user list.
- Vague profile names.
- One huge list with no favourites.
- Forgetting parental controls on children's devices.
A worked example
A family of four uses Smarters Pro on two TVs and two tablets. They remove an expired trial profile, rename the main one, build favourites for news, sport and children's channels, hide unused categories and set parental controls on the children's tablets. Everyone finds their channels in seconds.
